What is MRI? Magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) is a test that uses a magnetic field and pulses of radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body. In many cases, MRI gives different information about structures in the body that can’t be seen with an X-ray, ultrasound, or computed tomography (CT) scan. In some cases, contrast material may be used during the MRI scan to show certain structures more clearly. Your physician will discuss the risks and benefits of the procedure.
Community Memorial Hospital is proud to serve the surrounding communities of Staunton with this service. MRI services are provided on Wednesday afternoons and evenings, and Saturdays to better accomodate the working population. We strive to provide the best possible care, close to home.
